Brush Strokes Practice

The best way to improve one’s brushwork is to work with chinese or sumi-e painting where the less brush strokes you use the more impact there is. A brush stroke can look like a leave or a petal, hair and even a figure but mine still looks like a brush stroke. -_- I have given myself until the end of the year to discover my style and improve at the same  time.

A student’s work is always lacking, sometimes not because of skill but because of materials. What you see are are 90% painted and 10% photoshopped. Student grade’s ink are diluted and I couldn’t get it to be pure black. I also have to resort to gouache white for the highlights. Other than that, I was basically trying to figure out what my painting is lacking compared to the original. With photoshop, at least I know what steps I have missed and should have incorporated next time when I work.
