I’ve been really busy since christmas.. my god.. can’t catch a breath. It is hard to explore my own art when Paintlust is swamped with jobs.. Here is what we have done so far..

Kid's room wall mural for Slywie
We did a fun wall mural lately.. after our barrage of event and miniature art jobs, we were happy to be doing massive art again. The empty spaces you see in the mural are actually spaces for the kid’s photo to be displayed in time to come.

Martell Spoons painting
Before christmas, we painted 300 appetizer spoons for Martell’s event as door gifts. Batik themes and painted both front and back.

Dave's Deli sketch in wood panel
This is another quickie that we did last year. Lol, it is not actually glowing.. just effects from the lighting.. This piece is for Dave’s Deli restaurant in Subang Parade.

Ang Pow designs for Pernod Ricard
Finally, we wrapped 2011 with a set of 5 Ang Pow designs for Pernod Ricard. What a great year it’s been for Paintlust!
These days are filled with art and music. I am enjoying my job and my life now. Sometimes we have to work at certain events in the middle of town though.

Massive jam outside Gtower
We braved the traffic sometimes to get to our venue and sometimes we don’t always make it in time. Aiks.

Getting ready to paint at G Tower
Vinn and I at G Tower for Kronenbourg’s event launch. If you are planning to have some tshirts painted, Paintlust is the company to look for!

Hard at work
Tshirt markers are easy to use and if you have a painted tshirt at home, you have to iron it before you can wash them. This will set the paint in place.

Vinn working at the booth
Vinn loves to color tshirts and is a perfectionist when it comes to quality.

The working disabled
I was still disabled then and couldn’t walk so I had to attend the event in a wheelchair. Some people thought that we are a disabled association but they couldn’t be more wrong.

Dennis Lau and his tshirt
Mishaps happen sometimes. At this particular event, some of our tshirts were stolen but we managed to repaint the tshirts that were stolen. Who knew that art can be so in demand eh.

KY and I
I don’t have to worry about getting KY an invitation for my events. He is usually invited and just have to show up. Talk about convenience.

Its early but people are coming for their t shirts
Everyone gets a free tshirt, painted and doodled by us.

All our gear and some beer!
At the end of the day, that is what’s left on the table. We are always lucky there is someone that will pass us some beer and food while we work. Helps to be a girl sometimes.

Marianne helping out
Sometimes we get jobs to paint small scale instead. Marianne helps us out for this job.

Working hard
There were 80 over plates to paint but it was fun and we finished on time.

Our Martell plates
That’s all our designs spanning across all ze plates.

Our painted plates
We managed to get the Martell logo printed on the plates by myFlippix too.

Painting plates for Martell
And so it goes on.. soon we will be doing larger scale works. You can always check out what we are up to at paintlust.net.
xPlay is really getting hot!

DJ Malika
Also, don’t forget that xPlay will be at Paragon Club this 19th November 2011 featuring Russia’s best DJ and a whole array of local DJs. Not to mention that she is smoking hot too!

You can also get free passes by registering at http://on.fb.me/XPLAY11

New tools for the piece
And… we continue on our Paintlust journey. Needed some new tools for wall painting. Tools are expensive and they get spoilt so easily. Sometimes we wonder if they are worth it at all. This roller is RM 63 and the sponges RM 55. Could have made our own.

The wall and the client
Our client this time is celebrity violinist, Dennis Lau. I first met him in the Uniqlo event and again during one of our t-shirt painting events. We had to paint him a t-shirt twice cuz it got stolen!! Who would want to steal free painted t-shirts?? especially if they already have other people’s names on them? Who? @_@

Paintlust chicks and the wall
And that’s us by the empty wall ready to dissect his wall with our tools.

Mixing the correct color. Swirl and swirl!
Gotta repaint the wall with a flat color first.

Base color up..er.. down.
And… we started painting… I can actually climb the ladder now yay!

Faux effect WIP with new RM 55 sponge
Vinn doing the faux effect.

Hair and skin tone
When the faux effects is done, I painted the hair and body.. just some rough tones. I gave things a white base so that the area looks brighter as I build more colors on top of them.

Lining the hair
I love to finish off a painting by giving it lines. And when it comes to hair, I like to draw every fucking strand.

Defining the body and giving it lines
Now I can slap on some skin tones and line them all up to finish everything off.

Face painting development
Because the body is flipped, I had to take a photo each time with my useful iPhone and flip the photo upside down to look at the proportions. Had to make sure all the tones are correct before I continue with the darker tones.

Finished face
The face is finished once I put on the blacks and whites.

Finished figure
And then it is done!

Doodles and what not
I started to work on the doodles below her hair after that.

Le miao starting on violin
Meanwhile, Vinn worked on the violin, eh she mean guitar.

Le miao doing the piano halfway
She had a learning experience when she painted the piano with curved perspective.

Le miao smiling at me
Happy while painting…

Le miao blending pro
She is really good at painting splatters and blending colors together. She did it so effortlessly and fast -_-

Le mic and doodle finished
Michael Jackson is in the center of the doodle, can you find it? There is an old Shanghai microphone as well right next to the floating hand.

Typography with a brush
Writing with a brush is difficult. If only I can do this :

The typography in legible style
Then it will be much easier

Final result
If I must explain the concept, the floating hands are in the action of playing the violin. Strings are all part of the symbolic string instruments. And if you look carefully, the left side is Dennis’ inspiration …ze first act. The tools on the right ze second act and finally the stage and third act is in the middle through the window. Cuz behind the window is… … ze man behind the Mac working.
Then you hope that the cat doesn’t come into the house and shit.

This is how you terrorize a musician's studio :p
And when you hear the actual musician play, you get a mixture of feeling inspired and intimidated. Then you go home and have a really mad round on the piano hurting all the ears around you.

Wee.. thank you Michael for the article and everyone for your support!

First time using scaffold for painting.
Alyson called Paintlust up and asked for a wall mural for her mom’s new and upcoming restaurant, Simply Mel’s. I didn’t partake on this project because I couldn’t climb up on the ladder or walk for that matter. I actually tried to paint but gave up after my leg swelled up.

Clouds and Fan.
Vinn had to take care of the whole project by herself while I work from home during this period.

Malacca foliage
This is how she worked, high up on the scaffold. According to her, it shakes and doesn’t feel secure. Since this is her first time using it perhaps its just a matter of time.

Base color all up!
That is all I painted for this project, the walls and floor for Portugal(the left side)

Ming Hao at the Portugal painting
We had Ming Hao come in to finish my parts.

Vinn fixing up Portugal
After he was done, Vinn had to do some retouching..

There but doing nutfink.
There I was.. sitting and doing nothing like a boss. :p

Ships
Ships that Vinn painted looks great!

More ships

Vinn loves her ships

I am finally back at home, still bed-ridden but feeling happier. Last Kronenbourg post before I update you guys on my cyborg leg. :p Our last adventure took place in Ecoba, the boisterous pub.

Painting at Ecoba. The last night of the Kronenbourg Art Festival
By this time, both of us were getting used to painting live and pacing our painting duration. Can’t do it too fast, nor too slow. Ecoba is very different from the The Hill and Library, it is so packed and noisy. It was actually thanks to an event that was held there an hour or two ago before we arrived. Good timing eh?

Still can't get used to having our very own live painting section
As usual, Vinn has already prepared the painting before the actual day and we just arrived to finish it off. With a bang. It was slightly more difficult to concentrate due to the noise and the crazy activities that were going on in there.

Kronenbourg 1664, have you tried it yet?
This is the bear beard beer I mean that quench our thirst and thrill every night we performed.

Vinn and I painting together at Ecoba
Both of us painting at 10 pm. We were both slightly tired from waking up early for meeting. Phew. We are lucky that we just have to finish 20% of the painting.

Doodling Competition Entry
Every night, customers who bought the beer are entitled to join the doodling contest. We were the judges for the one at Library but for the other venues, they actually changed judges. Oh well, looks like we won’t be getting our hands on the Louis Vuitton RM 2000 voucher FOL.com

Kronenbourg chicks with our painting
This is also the only painting that incorporates the main colours of the Kronenbourg identity design. The theme of the painting is Love, must have romance ma.

Crazy Wacky crowd at Ecoba
OMG, look at ze crowd. I was painting and didn’t get to see all this happening but shieet, really alot of people leh.

We need to slow down!
Almost done with the painting, left the Ecoba logo only. Looks as if Vinn is standing but she is actually squatting down. After painting so many versions of Eiffel Tower, I am happy that it is not KLCC Twin Towers. Twice the job, twice the headache.

Last t-shirt painting for the night too!
We were expecting a late night when we see the overwhelming crowd but luckily for us, Ecoba closes at 1 am and we get to end our day right there and then.

Last pose for Kronenbourg. Phew!
Oh yea baby, its all done. Another one for the wall mural portfolio!

Final Result.
It looks ok but I wish that we had added texture paste to the acrylic paint to make it more impasto like. Then again, it would dry slower.
Anyway, thank you for reading
