Psoriasis charity painting

Acrylic on Canvas
3 x 4 ft

This painting is done for Hospital Melaka. I’ve interviewed 3 Psoriasis patients to understand what they went through and this is my interpretation of their life and ordeals. It was an eye opening experience for me and I wanted to showcase the texture of the disease in an aesthetic manner. The portrait beneath this rough texture signifies that the real soul hides within. The disease does not make them who they are.

I think that most of us can identify with the disease, it’s a skin disease that leaves your skin full of scabs and scars. The scabs flake with every step you make, littering the environment around you. For those who had have chicken pox will be able to remember the shock of seeing their skin being monstrous, and having to accept that it is their skin and no one else’s.
